It is difficult to pinpoint. It is nature. On a normal year, (What is normal?) they generally would emerge in Pierce County on or about the last week of April first week of May. In the Southeast of Minnesota about two weeks earlier. When I hear about them hatching in the Southeast I make sure I have my flies tied and ready to go. It usually is a string of days. This insect hatches in sunny afternoons.

How long does the Gray Caddis hatch usually last? Does it come more in spurts or all at once over a period of days?
Always tough trying to time these outings.
Thanks
Eric
