The last two days on the water have been a roller coaster of conditions and catching. The rain on Friday and Saturday did not have much affect on the water levels or clarity. As you may have noticed in the last report, hedging on water conditions was the best I could do. What I found after scouting 6 rivers in two days was that river conditions were highly variable. Friday, the Rush River was big, colored, brawling and characterless in its main stem. We fished for an hour or two, but packed it in to search for better water conditions. Lost Creek was clear and nice. Isabella was dirty:) The Trimbelle had reasonable clarity and water levels. Big River was clear. The Kinni was good to go.
The rivers have now gone through their spring cleaning. The recent high water events appear to have caused every rock in the river to tumbled and be sanded clean. The colors of the rocks through the clear water gave the river bed a beautiful, fresh spring look. The sunlight made it all dance. New rock islands and gravel bars have popped up in new places. It is a rock hunters heaven. New holes have been created and old favorites have been filled with sand. The rivers have put on a new look for spring.
Catching was about as consistent as the water conditions across the county. Either it was on fire or you couldn’t buy a fish. It was great to get back out on the water. I think everything is probably fishable today,,,,,,,,,,probably.

I experienced the same thing on the Rush last Thursday.
I was able to catch one fish on one of your Big Uglies.
