The last two days of the Wisconsin inland trout season are upon us. The rivers in Pierce County are in fine shape and the fish have been active this September. The Steelhead in the North are still asleep but their alarm is about to ring, sending them into their fall run for the river. Stay tuned here through October and November for stories and information as I am once again lured North to partake in my yearly ritual of childish behavior and serious pursuit to briefly battle, bond and release just one of the elusive Brule River Steelhead. These stories filled with high adventure at the local pub, photos of giant trout that I found on the web, flies that I just made up and technique yet unimagined should make for excellent fall reading.

Thanks for the heads up. Bigger river systems also fairly clean or just stained? So much rain. I heard the Rush, Willow, and Kinni were way high as of last weekend. Assume all almost back to normal? Going out to fish 4:30 – 7:30 this evening in western WI, likely brookies.
