The water conditions were still fishable today in most of Pierce County at noon, but the water continues to rise on most rivers. Rain and above freezing temps are predicted to continue and that will likely put a bunch of water in the area’s trout rivers. This morning folks were fishing east of Ellsworth with the water just off color. By noon there were no cars in the parking lot at F bridge on the Kinni, and the river was plump and rising. The first wave of rain looks to be over for the day, but the standing water is beginning to get legs and run. Conditions will probably not get better over the next few days, but that is just a guess. There is one thing for sure. After a long winter, it is at least legal to go and fish for trout in Wisconsin. Get out and wander about!

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackBy the looks out my window the answer to your question of “how long?” is…”not very long.” Not sure if River Falls is getting all this rain, but between the snow melting fast, the ground thawing and now the downpour we have all the ingredients for a good old fashioned “blow out.” Our sump pump is working overtime. 😉
Yeah, Crawford county has flood warnings now and many of the northeast Iowa counties, too, but the rain has stopped along WI State Hwy #61. These trout streams don’t need another “Blow Out”, that’s for sure.
Andy, thanks for updates. I checked your site this morning to verify what I knew was likely. Thank you for being a resource, and “go to”. Dave
Thanks Dave and Brian
I will go and look at water later today. It looks like the rain could peter out, or miss us to the south. there is still a bunch of snow to melt but we could have clearing conditions before you know it.
